Starting my own consulting company, Nomad Thinking I have thought about what to put on my business card. Recently I have found out that if you google Geek Guru and click I’m feeling lucky, my blog shows up! Anyway, I came across a neat business card by Jamie Wieck. Its pretty cool to have a business card that is also a plant, just add water!

We need to start thinking green like this and creating products that are either recyclable or biodegradable. This green business card is also a great way to brand yourself as a designer and a philanthropist.

Another innovation that I’ve seen is product packaging being part of the product. Most things that you buy have some level of packaging that is immediately discarded after purchase. There is even a gag gift that is nothing (literally) so that is purely packaging. I like products that are packed in a way that there is little to no waste incurred just from buying it. We have a client now that wants their packaging to double as a carrying case. I think that’s great - not only do they reduce waste but they are actually adding value to their product through the packaging. ramble ramble ramble, I’ll stop now.
