Notice the image on the right side, Dreamhost buys Carbon Credits to offset its usage for the 1300+ servers it runs (which hosts www.hippygreen.com). So not only is this blog Green by nature, but its hosted by a Green Company. If you looking for a web server/solution, I highly recommend Dreamhost. Dreamhost is not only as green as they come, but has some awesome service and plans, its one of the best web hosting companies I have used. (and I have been hosting a website since 1998). I will be renewing my contract with them the end of this month and could not be happier.

*Side Note, I will be also getting a VPS (Virtual Private Server) from slicehost to use for my Ruby on Rails application, but thats mainly due to speed/scaliablity/load. The Ruby on Rails can run on Dreamhost, but the rails framework is heavy on shared servers like Dreamhost. If your looking for a php/web hosting server, SIGN UP NOW by Clicking on the image below!

If your looking for some hardcore ruby on rails server, slicehost or engine yard.

Hey..why are you showing you are a green server when your site is hosted on 100% power from the grid. Dreamhost is not a green data center. Green credits only is the cheap way out, I suggest you look a little further for your hosting provider if you really want to show you care about the environment. There is only one choice in the world for a truly green hosting company. It is not sustainable dreamhost or think host. You should look into http://www.aiso.net Just a suggestion

Thanks for the post. I have been a Dreamhost customer for a year now and was surprised when I found out they do carbon offset and at least wanted to let everyone know. After starting this site and blogging about green I figured at least my hosting company is thinking green. Now, if Hippy Green becomes popular 1000 unique pageviews a day, I will look at going with Aiso.net a true Green hosting company.

You should check out http://b-e-f.org/ which is who we are buying RECs from. Directly funding organizations that are increasing the amount of renewable energy pumped into the grid is our current strategy.
